Kanthanpara Waterfalls

The Kanthapara Waterfalls is a little-known, yet must-see spot at Wayanad. Situated about 8 kilometers from Meppadi and 19 kilometers from Kalpetta, the Kanthanpara Falls drops down from a height of about 100-feet onto evergreen naturalforests with thick bamboo foliage. There is a shallow pool on top, which is perfect for a quick dip in the cool waters to soothe your body, mind, and soul.

Getting there is more than half the fun, with the breathtaking virgin beauty of the path leading to waterfalls seemingly more inspiring than the falls themselves! Camouflaged by an impossibly green, undulating landscape, itis indeed the perfect spot for picnics and birdwatching. A variety of birds found exclusively in this region including the Malabar gray hornbill, Common flame back woodpecker, White-cheeked barbet, and the White-throated Kingfisher flock here and are a fascinating sight to behold.

These scenically quaint waterfalls are a must-visit destination for every visitor to Wayanad. Listen to the sounds of the forest with the gurgling waters in the background, watch a nervous deer dart by fleetingly while enjoying that oneness with Mother Nature at her tranquil best. It said also a fantastic place to introduce young, city-dwelling children to nature and its wonders. The falls are open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. every day and the recommended best time to visit here is from October to May, immediately before the onset of the Southwest monsoons.
